2022-2023 Upward Bound Application

What is Upward Bound?

Upward Bound is a federally funded program designed to assist eligible high school students achieve academic success in high school and prepare for college.

Upward Bound consists of a nine-month Academic Year Component and a six-week residential Summer Academy. The Academic Year Component includes academic advising, workshops, tutoring, college visits, cultural and social experiences, SAT/ACT prep, Financial Literacy, and college prep. During Summer Academy, Upward Bound participants live on campus and experience college life while taking college-modeled classes at the Purdue Fort Wayne (PFW) campus. Participation in this program is a commitment until graduation.

Students from the following schools are eligible:

• Wayne High School/New Tech Academy
• South Side High School
• North Side High School
• New Haven High School

 To qualify, students must:

• Have a desire to attend college and earn a degree
• Be a current 9th or 10th grade student
• Be an income-eligible and/or first-generation college student
• Be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident, or in the process of becoming a Permanent Resident

Applicants will be required to provide the following information

• The head of the household’s most recent 1040 Fed. Tax Form
• Math Teacher Recommendation (attached below)
• English Teacher Recommendation (attached below)
• Counselor Recommendation (attached below)
• Please have your Counselor attach your current class schedule and transcript
